Today, The Foundry Academy Became More Real

Today felt different.

For months, The Foundry Academy has existed in plans, notes, research, conversations, drafts, and ideas that kept growing into something bigger than I originally imagined. I have spent so much time thinking about what this school could become that sometimes it still feels strange to see pieces of it finally taking shape in the real world.

Today, we worked on the website.

That may sound like a small thing, but it did not feel small to me.

Seeing the name, the building, the colors, the mission, and the vision come together on one page made The Foundry Academy feel less like something I am hoping to build one day and more like something I am actively building now.

There is still a long way to go. There are approvals to pursue, funding to secure, decisions to make, and more research ahead than I can probably measure right now. I do not have every answer, and I am learning to be comfortable saying that. What I do have is a clear vision, a growing plan, and a determination to keep moving forward one step at a time.

This process has already required patience. It has also required me to slow down and build thoughtfully instead of rushing just to say that we opened.

I want The Foundry Academy to be something that lasts.

I want it to be a place students are proud to attend, employers respect, and families trust. I want graduates to leave feeling prepared—not only for an exam, but for the reality of building a career and a life after school.

That kind of institution cannot be thrown together.

Today was a reminder that progress does not always look dramatic. Sometimes progress looks like choosing the right words, fixing a page, reworking an image, asking better questions, or finally seeing a vision reflected back to you in a way that feels right.

And today, it felt right.

I am proud of what we created, but I am even more excited about what is still ahead.

This is the first entry in Our Progress, and I want this space to remain honest. I will share the milestones, the lessons, the setbacks, the decisions, and the moments that make this journey meaningful.

The Foundry Academy is still being built.

So am I.

And today, both of us moved forward.
